Kindergarten teacher, Lucretia Clarke is focusing on several of Marzano’s strategies such as setting goals, providing feedback, and implementing non-linguistic representations with her writing instructional strategies. Students are paired with kindergarten pen pals in Las Vegas, Nevada. SWLCA students will create a journal based on the goals and feedback as sentence construction develops over the year. This project will allow for students to reflect in writing skills and compare and contrast skills from students in Nevada. Student responses will be shared with other kindergarten students and parents. Dr. LaTonia Harris, Principal, says that students are excited to share ideas and responses from students across the regions of the United States. Mrs. Clark is quite impressed that her students are able to recognize the state of Nevada on the US Map!
