Ms. Cheramie’s 7th grade Social Studies class held a debate earlier this week. One side favored the Constitution and the other side favored the Articles of Confederation. The Federalists (favored the Constitution) explained the weaknesses in the Articles, the strengths in the Constitution, and the need for a strong federal government. The Anti-Federalists (favored the Articles) explained the weaknesses in the Constitution, the strengths in the Articles, and why they feared a strong federal government. To prepare for the debate, the students split into groups and researched facts about their given topic.
